Filippo Sorcinelli Perfumes in Lugano

Filippo Sorcinelli brings together perfume, music, visual art and Italian craftsmanship. His fragrances are built around strong ideas and vivid atmospheres, with compositions that often explore incense, woods, resins, leather, flowers and shadowy aromatic notes.

The Filippo Sorcinelli perfume collection is available in Lugano at THE Perfumery, our independent niche fragrance boutique in the city centre.

An Italian Artist Working Through Scent

Filippo Sorcinelli began his creative path through music. The organ, sacred architecture and the emotional force of sound remain central to his work and continue to shape his approach to perfume.

In 2001, he founded LAVS, an atelier specialising in sacred vestments and liturgical objects. The studio became internationally recognised for its work and created garments for Pope Benedict XVI and for the inaugural Mass of Pope Francis.

This background in textiles, ceremony, form and symbolism later found a new expression in fragrance. In 2014, Sorcinelli introduced the first perfume in the UNUM collection, establishing a highly personal language within contemporary Italian niche perfumery.

The Fragrance World of Filippo Sorcinelli

Filippo Sorcinelli approaches perfume as a complete artistic medium. Each composition begins with a subject, a memory, a place or an emotional tension.

Incense is one of the recurring materials in his work, presented through different shades: mineral, smoky, cold, resinous or almost architectural. Other fragrances draw inspiration from gothic art, opera, photography, fog, fear and personal memory.

The perfumes often have a rich extrait de parfum concentration and develop gradually on the skin. Their character comes from the balance between dense raw materials, carefully controlled contrasts and a clear creative direction.

Bottle design, names and packaging form part of the same project. The visual identity is direct and recognisable, extending the story beyond the fragrance itself.

UNUM and the Main Collections

UNUM is the collection most closely associated with Filippo Sorcinelli’s spiritual and artistic research.

Its first fragrance, LAVS, was inspired by the scent of the sacred vestment atelier. Incense, resins and woods create a composition closely linked to ritual, fabric and interior spaces.

Opus 1144 takes its name from the year traditionally associated with the beginning of Gothic architecture at the Basilica of Saint-Denis. The fragrance develops this inspiration through a dark, structured and atmospheric composition.

Reliqvia, Ennui Noir, Rosa Nigra, Symphonie-Passion, Lascia ch’io pianga and Quando rapita in estasi continue the collection through themes connected with music, emotion, sacred imagery and the inner life.
